That which the knowers of the Veda call the Imperishable (akṣara), which the ascetics (yatayaḥ) freed from passion enter, Desiring which they practice the vow of celibacy (brahmacarya), that state I will briefly declare to you.
I shall teach you, in summary, about the state that scholars of sacred lore call eternal, the state ascetics enter, freed from passion, which some men seek in the celibate life.
(11) The imperishable state of which the Vedic scholars speak, which sages enter, their passion spent, desiring which men lead a life of chastity, that state will I proclaim to you in brief.
