Towards well-wishers, friends, enemies, the indifferent, mediators, the hateful, and relatives, Even towards the good and towards sinners, he whose understanding (buddhi) is equal, excels.
He is set apart by his disinterest toward comrades, allies, enemies, neutrals, nonpartisans, foes, friends, good and even evil men.
(9) Outstanding is he whose soul views in the selfsame way friends, comrades, enemies, those indifferent, neutrals, men who are hateful and those who are his kin—the good and the evil too.
6.9 He excels who has sameness of view with regard to a benefactor, a friend, a foe [Ari (foe) is one who does harm behind one's back.], a neutral, an arbiter, the hateful, [dveṣyaḥ is one who openly hateful.] a relative, good people and even sinners.
6.9 He who regards with an equal eye well-wishers, friends, foes, the indifferent, neutrals, the hateful, the relations, and even the good and the sinful --- he excels.
