By comparison with the self (ātman), everywhere, he who sees equality, O Arjuna, Whether in happiness or in sorrow, that yogi is considered the highest.
When he sees identity in everything, whether joy or suffering, through analogy with the self, he is deemed a man of pure discipline.
(32) By analogy with self who sees the same [Brahman] everywhere, be it as pleasure or as pain, he is the highest athlete of the spirit, or so men think.
6.32 O Arjuna, that yogi is considered the best who judges what is happiness and sorrow in all beings by the same standard as he would apply to himself.
6.32 He who, by reason of the similarity of selves everywhere, sees the pleasure or pain as the same everywhere --- that Yogin, O Arjuna, is deemed as the highest.
6.32 He who, through the likeness of the Self, O Arjuna, sees equality everywhere, be it pleasure or pain, he is regarded as the highest Yogi.
