For no one ever, even for a moment, remains performing no action (akarmakṛt); Everyone is made to perform action (karma) helplessly, by the qualities (guṇas) born of nature (prakṛti).
No one exists for even an instant without performing action; however unwilling, every being is forced to act by the qualities of nature.
(5) For not for a moment can a man stand still and do no work, for every man is powerless and made to work by the constituents born of Nature.
3.5 Because, no one ever remains even for a moment without doing work. For all are made to work under compulsion by the guṇas born of Nature.
3.5 No man can, even for a moment, rest without doing work; for everyone is caused to act, in spite of himself, by the Guṇas born of Nature.
3.5 Verily none can ever remain for even a moment without performing action; for everyone is made to act helplessly indeed by the qualities born of Nature.
