Not by abstaining from actions (karmāṇi) does a man enjoy actionlessness (naiṣkarmya), Nor by renunciation (sannyāsa) alone does he approach perfection (siddhi).
A man cannot escape the force of action by abstaining from actions; he does not attain success just by renunciation.
(4) Not by leaving works undone does a man win freedom from [the bond of] works, nor by renunciation alone can he win perfection’s prize.
3.4 A person does not attain freedom from action by abstaining from action; nor does he attain fulfillment merely through renunciation.
3.4 No man experiences freedom from activity (Naiṣkarmyaṃ) by abstaining from works; and no man ever attains success by mere renunciation of works.
3.4 Not by non-performance of actions does man reach actionlessness; nor by mere renunciation does he attain to perfection.
