In the object of every sense, attachment and aversion are situated. One should not come under their sway, for they are his two enemies.
Attraction and hatred are poised in the object of every sense experience; a man must not fall prey to these two brigands lurking on his path!
(34) In fall] the senses passion and hate are seated, [turned] to their proper objects: let none fall victim to their power, for these are brigands on the road.
3.34 Attraction and repulsion are ordained with regard to the objects of all the organs. One should not come under the sway of these two, because they are his adversaries.
3.34 Each sense has fixed attachment to, and aversion for, its corresponding object. But no one should come under their sway; for they are his foes.
