Actions (karmāṇi) are being performed in every way by the qualities (guṇas) of nature (prakṛti). He whose self is bewildered by ego (ahaṅkāra) thinks, "I am the doer."
Actions are all effected by the qualities of nature; but deluded by individuality, the self thinks, “I am the actor.”
(27) It is material Nature's [three] constituents that do all works wherever [works are done]; [but] he whose self is by the ego fooled thinks, 'It is I who do’.
3.27 While actions are being done in every way by the guṇas (qualities) of Nature, one who is deluded by egoism thinks thus: 'I am the doer.'
