For the mind which follows after, The roving senses, That carries away his wisdom (prajñā), As the wind carries away a ship on the water.
If his mind submits to the play of the senses, they drive away insight, as wind drives a ship on water.
(67) Hither and thither the senses rove, and when the mind is attuned to them, it sweeps away [whatever of] wisdom a man may possess, as the wind [sweeps away] a ship on the water.
2.67 For, the mind which follows in the wake of the wandering senses, that (mind) carries away his wisdom like the mind (diverting) a boat on the waters.
