But the renunciation (sannyāsa) of an obligatory action (niyatakarma) is not proper. The abandonment of it out of delusion (moha), is declared to be of darkness (tāmasa).
Renunciation of prescribed action is inappropriate; relinquished in delusion, it becomes a way of dark inertia.
(7) For to renounce a work enjoined [by Scripture] is inappropriate; deludedly to give this up is [the way] of Darkness. This [too] has been declared.
18.7 The abandoning of daily obligatory acts (nitya karmas) is not justifiable. Giving up that through delusion is declared to be based on tamas.
