But action (karma) which is performed by one desiring desires (kāma), or again with ego (ahaṅkāra), Involving much effort, that is declared to be of passion (rājasa).
Action called passionate is performed with great effort by an individualist who seeks to satisfy his desires.
(24) But the work in which much effort is expended by one who seeks his own pleasure-and-desire or again thinks, 'It is I who do it,' such [work] is assigned to Passion.
18.24 But that action is said to be born of rajas which is done by one desirous of results or by one who is egotistic, and which is highly strenuous.
