Arjuna said: Of renunciation (sannyāsa), O Great-armed one (Mahābāho), I wish to know the truth (tattva), And of abandonment (tyāga), O Lord of the senses (Hṛṣīkeśa), severally, O Slayer of Keshin (Keśiniṣūdana).
Krishna, I want to know the real essence of both renunciation and relinquishment.
Arjuna said: (1) Kṛṣṇa, fain would I know the truth concerning renunciation and apart from this [the truth] of self-surrender.
18.1 Arjuna said -- O mighty-armed Hṛṣīkeśa, O slayer of (the demon) Keśi, I want to know severally the truth about sannyāsa as also about tyāga.
18.1 Arjuna said -- I desire to know the truth about renunciation (Sannyāsa) and abnegation (Tyāga) severally, O Kṛṣṇa.
18.1 Arjuna said -- I desire to know severally, O mighty-armed, the essence or truth of renunciation, O Hṛṣīkeśa, as also of abandonment, O slayer of Keśi.
