Tormenting the multitude of elements situated in the body, the unthinking ones, And Me as well, situated within the body; know them to be of demonic resolve (āsuraniścayān).

ZaehnerJesuit

(5-6) And this know too. Some men there are who, without regard to Scripture's ordinance, savagely mortify [their flesh], buoyed up by hypocrisy and self-regard, yielding to the violence of passion and desire, and so torment the mass of [living] beings whose home their body is, the witless fools,—find [with them] Me Myself within [that same] body abiding: how devilish their intentions!

GambhiranandaAdvaita

17.6 (And who,) being non-discriminating, torture, all the organs in the body as also even Me who reside in the body,-know them as possessed of demoniacal conviction.

AdidevanandaVishishtadvaita

17.6 These foolish men, torturing the group of elements in their bodies and Me also who dwell within the body --- know them to be demoniacal in their resolves.

SivanandaVedanta

17.6 Senseless, torturing all the elements in the body and Me also, Who dwell in the body, -- know thou these to be of demonical resolves.
