But even the food that is dear to everyone is of three kinds, And sacrifice (yajña), austerity (tapas), and charity (dāna); hear this distinction of theirs.
Food is also of three kinds, to please each type of taste; sacrifice, penance, and charity likewise divide in three ways.
(7) Threefold again is food, [food] that agrees with each [different type of] man: [so too] sacrifice, ascetic practice, and the gift of alms. Listen to the difference between them.
