That sacrifice (yajña) which is offered according to the rules, by those not desiring the fruit, Having fixed the mind, thinking "It must be sacrificed," that is of goodness (sāttvika).
A sacrifice is offered with lucidity when the norms are kept and the mind is focused on the sacrificial act, without craving for its fruit.
(11) The sacrifice approved by [sacred] ordinance and offered, up by men who would not taste its fruits, who concentrate their minds on this [alone]: 'In sacrifice lies duty': [such sacrifice] belongs to Goodness,
17.11 That sacrifice which is in accordance with the injunctions, (and is) performed by persons who do not hanker after results, and with the mental conviction that it is surely obligatory, is done through sattva.
17.11 The sacrifice (worship) marked by Sattva is what is offered by those desiring no fruit, and having the conviction that it should be performed as enjoined in the Śāstras.
17.11 That sacrifice which is offered by men without desire for reward as enjoined by the ordinance (scripture), with a firm faith that to do so is a duty, is Sattvic or pure.
