But having aimed at the fruit, and even for the sake of hypocrisy (dambha), What is sacrificed, O best of the Bharatas (Bharataśreṣṭha), know that sacrifice (yajña) to be of passion (rājasa).
But a sacrifice is offered with passion, Arjuna, when it is focused on the fruit and hypocrisy is at play.
(12) But the sacrifice that is offered up by men who bear its fruits in mind or simply for vain display,—know that [such sacrifice] belongs to Passion.
17.12 But that sacrifice which is performed having in view a result, as also for ostentation,-know that sacrifice to be done through rajas, O greatest among the descendants of Bhārata.
17.12 But that sacrifice which is offered with the fruit in view and for the sake of ostentation, know it, O Arjuna, to be Rajasika.
17.12 The sacrifice which is offered, O Arjuna, seeking a reward and for ostentation, know thou that to be a Rajasic Yajña.
