"Without truth (asatya), without foundation, without a Lord (anīśvara)," they say the world is, "Brought about by mutual union, with desire (kāma) as its only cause; what else?"
They say that the world has no truth, no basis, no god, that no power of mutual dependence is its cause, but only desire.
(8) 'The world is devoid of truth,' they say, 'it has no ground, no ruling Lord; it has not come to be by mutual causal law; desire alone has caused it, nothing else.'
16.8 They say that the world is unreal, it has no basis, it is without a God. It is born of mutual union brought about by passion! What other (cause can there be)?
16.8 They maintain: 'The universe is without truth, without any foundation and without a Lord (Īśvara). What else can exist without mutual causation? It has lust for its cause.'
16.8 They say, "This universe is without truth, without (moral) basis, without a God, brought about by mutual union, with lust for its cause; what else?"
