Below and above its branches spread, nourished by the qualities (guṇas), with the objects of the senses as its shoots. And below its roots stretch forth, binding to action (karma) in the human world.
Its branches stretch below and above, nourished by nature's qualities, budding with sense objects; aerial roots tangled in actions reach downward into the world of men.
(2) Below, above, its branches straggle out, well nourished by the constituents; sense-objects are the twigs. Below its roots proliferate inseparably linked with works in the world of men.
15.2 The branches of that (Tree), extending down-wards and upwards, are strengthened by the qualities and have sense-objects as their shoots. And the roots, which are followed by actions, spread downwards in the human world [According to A.G. and M.S. manuṣya-loke means a body distinguished by Brahminhood etc.].
15.2 (a) Its branches extend both above and below, nourished by the Guṇas. Their shoots are sense objects ... (b) ... And their secondary roots extend downwards, resulting in acts which bind in the world of men.
15.2 Below and above spread its branches, nourished by the Guṇas; sense-objects are its buds; and below, in the world of men, stretch forth the roots, originating action.
