Equal in honor and dishonor, equal toward the sides of friend and enemy, Abandoning all undertakings, he is said to have transcended the qualities (guṇātīta).
The same in honor, and disgrace, to ally and enemy, a man who abandons involvements transcends the qualities of nature.
(25) Equal [his mind] in honor and disgrace, equal to ally and to enemy, he renounces every [busy] enterprise: 'He has transcended the constituents'; so must men say.
14.25 He who is the same under honor and dishonor, who is equally disposed both towards the side of the friend and of the foe, who has renounced all enterprise,-he is said to have gone beyond the qualities.
