He surveyed his elders and companions in both armies, all his kinsmen assembled together.
(27) fathers-in-law and friends in both armies; and seeing them, all his kinsmen, [thus] arrayed, the son of Kuntī
1.27 The son of Kuntī (Arjuna), seeing all those relatives arrayed (there), became overwhelmed by supreme compassion and said this sorrowfully:
1.27 Fathers-in-law and dear friends in both armies. When Arjuna saw all these kinsmen in array,
1.27. (He saw) fathers-in-law and friends also in both the armies. The son of Kuntī, Arjuna, seeing all those kinsmen thus standing arrayed, spoke this, sorrowfully filled with deep pity.
