The Blessed Lord (Śrī Bhagavān) said: Not depending on the fruit of action (karmaphala), he who performs the action (karma) that is to be done, He is a renouncer (sannyāsī) and a disciplined one (yogī), not he who is without fire and without rites.
One who does what must be done without concern for the fruits is a man of renunciation and discipline, not one who shuns ritual fire and rites.
The Blessed Lord said: (1) The man who does the work that is his to do, yet covets not its fruits, he it is who at once renounces and yet works on (yogin), not the man who builds no sacrificial fire and does not work,
6.1 The Blessed Lord said -- He who performs an action which is his duty, without depending on the result of action, he is a monk and a yogi; (but) not (so in) he who does not keep a fire and is actionless.
6.1 The Lord said -- He who performs works that ought to be done without seeking their fruits --- he is a Sannyāsin and Yogin, and not he who maintains no sacred fires and performs no actions.
6.1 The Blessed Lord said -- He who performs his bounden duty without depending on the fruits of his actions -- he is a Sannyāsin and a Yogi; not he who is without fire and without action.
