Therefore, having severed with the sword of knowledge (jñāna) of the self (ātman), this doubt born of ignorance, Which dwells in your heart, establish yourself in discipline (yoga) and stand up, O descendant of Bharata (Bhārata)!
So sever the ignorant doubt in your heart with the sword of self-knowledge, Arjuna! Observe your discipline! Arise!
(42) And so [take up] the sword of wisdom and with it cut this doubt of yours (ātmanaḥ), unwisdom’s child, still lurking in your heart: prepare for action (yoga) now, stand up!
4.42 Therefore, O scion of the Bhārata dynasty, take recourse to yoga and rise up, cutting asunder with the sword of Knowledge this doubt of your own in the heart, arising from ignorance.
4.42 Therefore, sunder, with the sword of knowledge, this doubt present in your heart resulting from ignorance concerning the self. Practice this Yoga, O Arjuna, and rise up.
4.42 Therefore with the sword of the knowledge (of the Self) cut asunder the doubt of the self born of ignorance, residing in thy heart, and take refuge in Yoga. Arise, O Arjuna.
