By action (karma) alone, Janaka and others attained perfection (saṃsiddhi). Even considering the holding together of the world (lokasaṅgraha), you ought to act.
Janaka and other ancient kings attained perfection by action alone; seeing the way to preserve the world, you should act.
(20) For only by working on did Janaka and his like attain perfection's prize. Or if again you consider the welfare [and coherence] of the world, then you should work [and act].
3.20 For Janaka and others strove to attain Liberation through action itself. You ought to perform (your duties) keeping also in view the prevention of mankind from going astray.
3.20 Indeed by Karma Yoga alone did Janaka and others reach perfection. Even recognizing its necessity for the guidance of the world, you must perform action.
3.20 Janaka and others attained perfection verily by action only; even with a view to the protection of the masses thou shouldst perform action.
