For the gods, nourished by sacrifice (yajña), will give you the enjoyments you desire. He who enjoys what is given by them without offering to them, he is a thief indeed.

ZaehnerJesuit

(12) For, [so] sustained by sacrifice the gods will give you the food of your desire. Whoso enjoys their gift yet gives them nothing [in return] is a thief, no more nor less.'

3.12 The gods, pleased by the sacrifice, will bestow on you the enjoyments you desire. He who enjoys the bounty of the gods without giving them anything in return, is but a thief.
