As much use as there is in a well, When water is flooded everywhere, So much is there in all the Vedas, For a brahmin (brāhmaṇa) who knows.
For the discerning priest, all of sacred lore has no more value than a well when water flows everywhere.
(46) As much use as there is in a water-tank flooded with water on every side, so much is there in all the Vedas for the Brāhmaṇa who discerns. Action is Arjuna’s Duty
2.46 A Brāhmaṇa with realization has that much utility in all the Vedas as a man has in a well when there is a flood all around.
2.46 What use a thirsty person has for a water reservoir when all sides of it are flooded --- that much alone is the use of all the Vedas for a Brāhmaṇa who knows.
2.46 To the Brāhmaṇa who has known the Self, all the Vedas are of as much as is a reservoir of water in a place where there is a flood.
