But the contacts of the senses with their objects, O son of Kunti (Kaunteya), Are givers of cold and heat, pleasure and pain. They come and go, they are impermanent; Endure them, O descendant of Bharata (Bhārata).
Contacts with matter make us feel heat and cold, pleasure and pain. Arjuna, you must learn to endure fleeting things—they come and go!
(14) But contacts with the objects of sense give rise to heat and cold, pleasure and pain: they come and go, impermanent. Put up with them [then], Arjuna.
2.14 But the contacts of the organs with the objects are the producers of cold and heat, happiness and sorrow. They have a beginning and an end, (and) are transient. Bear them, O descendant of Bhārata.
