Sañjaya said: To him thus overcome by compassion, Whose eyes were filled with tears and distressed, Despairing, the Slayer of Madhu (Madhusūdana) Spoke this word:
Arjuna sat dejected, filled with pity, his sad eyes blurred by tears. Krishna gave him counsel.
Sañjaya said: (1) To him thus in compassion plunged, his eyes distraught and filled with tears, [to him] desponding Kṛṣṇa spoke these words: The Blessed Lord said:
2.1 Sañjaya said -- To him who had been thus filled with pity, whose eyes were filled with tears and showed distress, and who was sorrowing, Madhusūdana uttered these words:
2.1 Sañjaya said -- To him, who was thus overcome with pity, whose eyes were wet with tears, who was sorrow-stricken and who bore a bewildered look Sri Kṛṣṇa spoke as follows:
2.1 Sañjaya said -- To him who was thus overcome with pity and who was despondent, with eyes full of tears and agitated, Madhusūdana (the destroyer of Madhu) or Kṛṣṇa spoke these words.
