Heroism, vigor (tejas), resolve (dhṛti), skill, and also not fleeing in battle, Charity (dāna) and a lordly nature (īśvarabhāva); this is the action (karma) of a warrior (kṣatriya), born of his own nature (svabhāva).
Heroism, fiery energy, resolve, skill, refusal to retreat in battle, charity, and majesty in conduct are intrinsic to the action of a warrior.
(43) High courage, ardor, endurance, skill, in battle unwillingness to flee, an open hand, a lordly mien,—[these] are the works of princes, inhering in their nature [too].
18.43 The natural duties of the Kṣatriyas are heroism, boldness, fortitude, capability, and also not retreating from battle, generosity and lordliness.
18.43 Valor, invincibility, steadiness, adroitness and non-fleeing in battle, generosity and lordliness are the duties of a Kṣatriya born of his inherent nature.
18.43 Prowess, splendor, firmness, dexterity and also not fleeing from battle, generosity and lordliness are the duties of the Kṣatṛyas, born of (their own) nature.
