In accordance with the goodness (sattva) of everyone, faith (śraddhā) comes into being, O descendant of Bharata (Bhārata). This Person (puruṣa) is made of faith; whatever his faith is, that indeed he is.
The faith each man has, Arjuna, follows his degree of lucidity; a man consists of his faith, and as his faith is, so is he.
(3) Faith is connatural to the soul of every man: man is instinct with faith: as is his faith, so too must he be.
17.3 O scion of the Bhārata dynasty, the faith of all beings is in accordance with their minds. This person is made up of faith as the dominant factor. He is verily what his faith is.
17.3 The faith of everyone, O Arjuna, is in accordance with his internal organ (Antaḥkaraṇa). Man consists of faith. Whatever his faith is, that verily is he.
