Likewise, of Sama hymns, the Brihatsaman; of meters, I am the Gayatri. Of months I am Margashirsha; of seasons, the flower-bearing one (Spring).
I am the great ritual chant, the meter of sacred song, the most sacred month in the year, the spring blooming with flowers.
(35) Again among chants I am the Great Chant, among meters the Gāyatrī, among months I am [the first,] Mārgaśīrṣa, among seasons flower-bearing [spring].
10.35 I am also the Bṛhat-sāma of the Sama (-mantras); of the meters, Gāyatrī. Of the months I am Mārga-śīrṣa, and of the seasons, spring.
10.35 Of Sāman hymns, I am the Bṛhatsāma. Of meters, I am the Gāyatrī. Of months, I am Mārgaśīrṣa (Nov-Dec). And of seasons I am the season of flowers.
