The Blessed Lord (Śrī Bhagavān) said: I proclaimed this imperishable discipline (yoga) to Vivasvat (the Sun god); Vivasvat declared it to Manu, and Manu spoke it to Ikshvaku.
I taught this undying discipline to the shining sun, first of mortals, who told it to Manu, the progenitor of man; Manu told it to the solar king Ikshvaku.
The Blessed Lord said: (1) This changeless mode of life (yoga) I to Vivasvat [once] proclaimed; to Manu Vivasvat told it, and Manu to Ikṣvāku told it [again].
4.1 The Blessed Lord said -- I imparted this imperishable Yoga to Vivasvān, Vivasvān taught this to Manu, and Manu transmitted this to Ikṣvāku.
4.1 The Lord said -- I taught this imperishable Yoga to Vivasvān; Vivasvān taught it to Manu; Manu declared it to Ikṣvāku.
