Therefore, having controlled the senses from the beginning, O best of the Bharatas (Bharatarṣabha), Slay this evil one, the destroyer of knowledge (jñāna) and realization (vijñāna).
Therefore, first restrain your senses, Arjuna, then kill this evil that ruins knowledge and judgment.
(41) Therefore restrain the senses first: strike down this evil thing!—destroyer alike of what we learn from holy books and what we learn from life.
