This understanding (buddhi) declared to you is in accordance with knowledge (sāṅkhya); Now hear this in accordance with discipline (yoga). Endowed with which understanding (buddhi), O son of Pritha (Pārtha), You will cast off the bondage of action (karmabandha).
Understanding is defined in terms of philosophy; now hear it in spiritual discipline. Armed with this understanding, Arjuna, you will escape the bondage of action.
(39) This wisdom (buddhi) has [now] been revealed to you in theory; listen now to how it should be practiced. If you are controlled by the soul (buddhyāyukto), you will put away the bondage that is inherent in [all] works.
2.39 O Pārtha, this wisdom has been imparted to you from the standpoint of Self-realization. But listen to this (wisdom) from the standpoint of Yoga, endowed with which wisdom you will get rid of the bondage of action.
2.39 This Buddhi concerning the self (Saṅkhyā) has been imparted to you. Now listen to this with regard to Yoga, by following which you will get rid of the bondage of Karma.
2.39 This, which has been taught to thee, is wisdom concerning Saṅkhyā. Now listen to wisdom concerning Yoga, endowed with which, O Arjuna, thou shalt cast off the bonds of action.
